The roster should be read as a custody tool, not a complete criminal-history report. It covers the local jail stage. A person may be waiting for first appearance, serving a short county sentence, held for a local warrant, or held while another agency resolves a detainer. Once a felony defendant is sentenced to Michigan Department of Corrections custody, the record trail moves to MDOC OTIS. Federal prisoners are checked through the BOP inmate locator, and immigration detainees are checked through ICE ODLS.

The county roster page itself is captcha-protected. That means a user can search in a browser, but automated review could not confirm each result field. Treat any online result as a live jail pointer and confirm time-sensitive facts with the jail information line, the court record, or the agency that created the record.

Ingham County Jail Facilities

Property release requires the inmate to complete a property-release form naming the person who may pick up the property. Medical questions go to the Medical Department at 517-676-8359 because health information is confidential and only medical staff can address it.

Ingham County Visitation Records

All family and friend visits at the adult correctional facility are video visits. Under normal circumstances, the visitor packet allows one weekly free on-site video visit, either at the correctional facility or at Ingham County Human Services Building terminals. Remote visits may be available daily, but classification level, terminal access, feeding times, lockdowns, and safety rules can limit scheduling.

Visitors must provide a home address, telephone number, and valid picture identification at check-in. The sheriff page also lists holiday closures for general public visitation, including major county holidays and several holiday eves.

Ingham County Mail and Money

Ingham County moved to digital mail on April 1, 2023. Ordinary personal mail for adult jail inmates goes to the Smart Communications mail processing center in Seminole, Florida, not to the Mason jail street address. Legal and business mail uses the jail address and is opened in the inmate's presence before being scanned into the legal-mail system. The inmate name and inmate number matter because both are used in the official mail format.

State and Federal Ingham Inmate Records

MDOC OTIS is the state tool for prisoners, parolees, probationers, absconders, and recently discharged offenders within the OTIS window. It is not a county jail roster. Search fields include last name, first name, offender number, sex, race, age, offender status, and marks, scars, or tattoos. If an Ingham County felony case ends with a prison sentence, the county jail page may no longer be the right place to look.

Federal and immigration records follow still different paths. BOP covers federal inmates from 1982 to present and returns fields such as name, register number, age, race, sex, release date, and location. ICE ODLS requires JavaScript and normally searches by A-number and country of birth or by name, date of birth, and country of birth. Neither federal tool is a source for Ingham County jail mugshots.
